"Chefs for Sharks," is a project in the works I started to help protect the dwindling shark populations around the globe, associated with the ileagal practice of shark finning. Shark finnning is the practice of catching sharks on a long line, then cutting off their fins (for soup) then discarding the rest of the body back to the sea. The fins are then dried and sold mostly on the black market to make Shark Fin Soup.
I am teaming up with some fellow chefs to get the message out that we are not going to tollerate this senseless and cruel exploitation of these animals. It is estimated that over 70 millon sharks have been killed this year alone! That is a frightening number and at this rate it will have an irreverseable impact on our oceans and cause the extincton of several speceis.
We are asking for donations to benifit Oceana, the largest international organization focused soely on ocean conservation. Please donate and help make a difference.
