Chelsea Groton Bank is proud to support efforts to install smoke alarms and save lives in New London, Connecticut!
On March 10, Chelsea Groton Bank employees will join the American Red Cross and will be visiting New London homes to share fire safety information, and install free smoke alarms. This is part of a multi-city campaign to install 1,200 alarms. For five days, beginning on March 6, 2017, the Red Cross will visit at-risk neighborhoods in Connecticut and Rhode Island and canvass homes to install smoke alarms and educate families on fire prevention and safety. This is part of the Home Fire Campaign aimed to reduce death and injury from home fires by 25% by 2020.
The Connecticut and Rhode Island Chapter responds on average to two home fires each day. Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a fire in half. Install smoke alarms on every level of your home inside bedrooms and sleeping areas. Check your smoke alarms once a month, if they’re not working, change the batteries.
