Chelsea's Trip to Peru
Organized by: Chelsea Ruff
I'm beyond humbled and blessed to announce that I have the opportunity to travel to Lima, Peru and work with a non-profit organization called Krochet Kids International. The mission of Krochet Kids is to empower women in poverty by providing them with jobs. Krochet Kids teaches the women how to knit and crochet products such as shirts, bags and hats. Along with these jobs come fair wages, mentorship, and education programs. My position as a Production Assistant will have me working in quaility control, production, and shipping of the KKI products. I have no doubt that this experience will enrich me in many ways. Most important to me is the opportunity to work with the women and see how empowerment translates into each of their lives. I hope that I am able to take this experience and use it as a catalyst to my future and career.
I believe that Krochet Kids is providing a sustainable life for women both in Uganda and Peru, and I am excited to learn and be a part of this process. If you'd like to see more on what Krochet Kids does, check out the video I have posted by scrolling through my picture/video section!
While in Lima, I am responsible for all living costs including room/board, transportation, food, and airfare. My projected budget for a three month time period is $3000. If you find yourself wanting to donate any amount of money to my cause, you can do so here on my Crowdrise page. If you prefer, you can send a check directly to Krochet Kids with my name in the memo. (This option will give you a tax write off). If you prefer this option send me a message and I can give you more specific directions! :) I really do appreciate the support, and please keep in mind that any amount of money helps!
Besides financial support, I would love any words of encouragement/ prayers that you wanted to send my way! I'm so excited for this experience, but I know that there will be difficult times as well. If you ever have any questions or about my experience or just want to say hello, please feel free to message me on Facebook or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

I can't thank you all enough for the support in advance. I wouldn't be where I am without my amazing family and friends!
“We have big dreams and ideas, but we also have big fears. The quest to overcome fear is lifelong, and almost no one is truly fearless. Instead of pretending it doesn’t exist, you have to be willing to smash through the brick wall of fear. You won’t be the first to do it, and what you find on the other side might surprise you.”
