Grow Community by Supporting Chene Ferry Community Garden
Poletown is a neighborhood nestled between I-75 and I-94, known historically for its diverse culture and home to gems like Chene-Ferry Market and the Raven Lounge. Its rich history and promising landscape create the perfect opportunity to celebrate its roots as an agricultural anchor in the form of a community garden. RecoveryPark and Challenge Detroit have recently partnered on a five week project to grow this idea from concept to reality.
It's happening...
On June 29th over 150 volunteers and community members in collaboration with Mission Continues will help make this project a reality by building raised garden beds for neighborhood residents, creating a community gathering space with picnic tables, seating and messaging boards, building user-friendly bus stop shelters, and rehabbing the market entry way.
But we need you...
With just a small donation, you can make a long-term impact by providing fruit trees, top-soil, plants, and tools to ensure the community garden flourishes for seasons to come.
1 Plant=$2
1 Fruit Tree= $30
1 Hose=$50
1 Bed of Compost= $50
Garden Tools=$100
1 Water Catchment System= $1200
Thank you for your donation and your commitment to Detroit.
RecoveryPark is committed to creating jobs for Detroiters with barriers to employment by leveraging the city's underutilized assets: a large available workforce, abundant open space, access to fresh water, extensive infrastructure and a wide array of manufacturing and technology companies.
The Mission Continues empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact by deploying veterans on new missions in their communities, so that their actions will inspire future generations to serve. Their operations in cities across the country deploy veteran volunteers alongside non-profit partners and community leaders to solve some of the most challenging issues facing our communities: improving community education resources, eliminating food deserts, mentoring at-risk youth and more.
Challenge Detroit is an urban revitalization program that attracts and retains the next generation of leaders from our own backyard and across the nation who have the courage, passion, and drive to make a difference providing them with the opportunity to collaborate and lend their intellectual capital to philanthropic challenges that will contribute to the growth and revitalization of the Greater Detroit area.
