Hi all,

Just a quick but important update!

The Play Brigade was able to present a check today for $45,000 to the Dept of Parks & Recreation for the City of Boston, for inclusive play equipment at Franklin Park! This is a major milestone and the beginning of a lot of great things.

THANK YOU to all who helped by sponsoring me in the BAA 5K (and the Falmouth Road Race, still to come!). Your donations will make a DIRECT and LOCAL difference in the lives of kids with physical differences, who will now be able to play alongside their peers. :)

Thank you again....

Hello all :)

I just wanted to send out a pre-race thank you to tonight everyone who donated.

Truly, I am astounded and humbled to admit I have made $2230 for this campaign (as of 9pm, my bedtime before the race). :) This is (as of now) the highest on The Play Brigade running team through sponsors on Crowdrise! Crazy.... I didn't think I could do that.

This surpasses my goal and my hope is that The Play Brigade will be able to surpass their expectations and do more than they are thinking about right now, too. Maybe they won't only make public playgrounds in Brookline, MA accessible for our friends with physical challenges, but maybe eventually all over MA, or even nationwide.

Three miles doesn't seem like a lot to some, but the challenges many kids and families face daily don't seem like big hurdles to us, either. This race is a great metaphor for this and I'm so glad you chose to support the cause, as it means a lot to me.

Thank you all again!
With love and thanks,
Gretchen

THANK YOU CHERYL!

3 miles doesn't seem like a far distance to run, but I figured it's kind of like my friend Harper's days. Things we think of as no big deal are huge challenges when you face life as a three year old in a wheelchair! And although her energy, smarts and laugh don't let her or her family let this stop them, there are some things kids like her would love to do more easily, and playing at a playground is one! Play is so important to social and cognitive development, so my passion left over from teaching early childhood coupled with my friendship with Dawn and her family makes this important - and I THANK YOU for supporting me (and them!)

Dawn was on The Apprentice and is a firecracker business woman - I have NO DOUBT she will set out to change public playgrounds not only in Brookline (where they live and where she is starting), but probably all over MA and hopefully nationally someday!

THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!
With love,
Gretchen
