As many of you already know, I am involved in fundraising for AMBUCS, a national charity organization that creates mobility and independence for people with disabilities. I am actively fulfilling this mission by providing Amtryke therapeutic tricycles to individuals unable to operate a traditional bike, awarding academic scholarships for therapists, and performing various other forms of community service for people with disabilities (including working over a decade full-time at the Occupational Development Center, the first school to open in PA for disabled children in 1948).
To date, over 30,000 Amtrykes have been provided around the United States. The majority of these trykes are purchased by volunteer members of the AMBUCS organization and donated free of charge to financially-needy children or Veterans in their own community. In 2008, I presented my first AmTryke to a disabled child with the Lancaster AMBUCS Chapter. Since that day, I have been blessed to witness many miracles by helping deliver AmTrykes all over the US.
We believe the fun and freedom of riding your own bike is something everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy. People who are unable to operate a traditional bike can now share this experience, thanks to the Amtryke therapeutic tricycle.
We have many participants just waiting to get on a bike! Please help me in my quest to raise a few more dollars to help take a child off the wish list! This is my third year participating in this trek campaign, and I will be participating for Trek-4-Trykes in Mississippi at the end of this month to raise funds and awareness. Any amount is greatly appreciated as every dollar counts.
Thank you in advance, and my best always!
Cheryl Swain (Representative of the Lancaster AMBUCS Chapter, Lancaster PA)
