THE STORY:

Camp Herrlich (Mt Tremper Outdoor Ministries Inc) wrote -

The Situation: Due to some changes with our funders and in light of recent events in the area, we are going to be about 31 camperships short for our New York City children for Summer 2013.

The Challenge: Raise more funds than the other team towards our goal of $17,050.00 USD to cover the cost of sending those 31 kids to Camp. Deadline for fundraising is February 22nd, 2013.

The Teams: US Staff (Team Captains: Jess Vanacoro and Tyrell Davis) vs. International Staff (Team Captains: Dean Stichbury and Theo Huwae). Bob and Wendy claim to be impartial, but we all know which team they’re going to help out.

The Incentives: You get to send kids to Camp! You also get bragging rights; your team’s name on a trophy for eternity; an amazing prize for the individual on each team that raises the most money. Plus, special treatment for your team members that are here this summer in the form of events, trips, prizes, etc. So if the International Staff team wins, all the International Staff here this summer benefit and vice versa. The winning Team will be announced at the Camp Herrlich reunion in the UK on Saturday March 2nd, 2013.

How To: First, make yourself a Crowdrise page at www.crowdrise.com and choose Camp Herrlich as your charity. (We use Crowdrise for fundraising because it’s fun and easy, people can pay with their credit cards, and it comes right back to Camp.) Then you can set up your own Fundraiser. Here are some ideas and examples of Fundraisers that you can do:
Just ask your friends and family for donations! You can set it up as “Sponsor a Kid to Camp Herrlich”
Set up an actual event! In your community, at your college, at Carmel HS, wherever! Do a bake sale, sell Valentine’s Day candy-grams, host a dance-party or ice cream social and charge people a couple bucks to enter, do a walk or half marathon or bike ride or jump from a plane and have people give you a few bucks/pounds/euros/pesos/whatever to do it. Just make sure it’s OK with whatever administration is in place where you are if you need to.
Get your friends to help! Are your friends tired of hearing you talk about Camp? Tell them that if they give you $10, you won’t mention Camp for a week.
Work within your own situation. If you work at a job where you make tips, maybe dedicate one shift’s worth of tips to Camp and ask your coworkers to help out. Do you have a big jar or piggy bank of change? Maybe cash that in and donate it to your fundraising page for Camp.

Whatever you can do will help! $5 - $5000, it doesn’t matter. Every little bit will help send kids to Camp.
