CWHC was founded in 1975 by a group of health care providers, counselors, and educators committed to raising awareness about unjust health disparities in Chicago, and developing strategies for their elimination.  CWHC’s history has been one of expansion and growth: it launched its Gynecology Program in 1975, Alternative Insemination in 1983, Outreach & Education Program in 1988, Counseling Program in 1989, and Integrative Health Program in 2007.  In 2014, with the generosity and partnership of the Crown Family, CWHC hired a Nurse Practitioner and began providing primary care services for the first time in its 39 year history.
