Chicago's children are running their own race daily—living in communities with high rates of violence and poverty, attending low performing schools, and losing hope in the future. For these children, Chicago Youth Centers (CYC) is where possibility lives. CYC's innovative out-of-school programs provide the skills, resources, and opportunities low-income youth need to succeed in the 21st century. We help youth stay safe from violence, develop character, and build employable skills that will put them on a path toward upward mobility.
We invite you to join us in "going the distance" for CYC's kids by supporting our 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon campaign!
Funds raised support CYC-Rebecca K. Crown Youth Center in South Shore. CYC-Crown gives more than 200 children ages 3-18 in South Shore access to the robust educational, cultural, and social experiences. It is home to CYC’s first Maker Lab, a gym and climbing wall, and expertly-staffed classrooms. Just this past summer children participated in violin lessons, a robotics club, documentary filmmaking, and more! CYC is proud to teach and mentor the South Shore’s next generation of leaders and citizens every day at CYC-Rebecca K. Crown Youth Center.
Alainia, an attendee at CYC-Crown recently described CYC like this:
"CYC, it breaks the boundaries that you could never break before just sitting in a normal classroom. Everyone here makes it seem like you can do whatever you want--and you can! All you have to do is walk through that open door, start your opportunity there, and never give up! It all starts here at CYC. "
