The average homeless person in the United States is 8-9 years old. Every morning 13,000 people wake up in Atlanta with no place to call home. 2,500 of those people are children. That is why 30 years ago the Junior League of Atlanta founded the Atlanta Children's Shelter. The Atlanta Children’s Shelter is a “Bright form the Start” licensed and NAEYC accredited early childhood education program that serves children six weeks to five years of age. We provide two hot meals along with two healthy and hearty snacks each day. The Atlanta Children’s Shelter promotes learning through play and utilizes the STEAM curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, art and math. We offer enrichment programs that include Spanish, Sign Language and summer field trips. The Brigance Screening System is utilized to measure basic kills advancement.
