BENEFITING: CHILD AND FAMILY OPPORTUNITIES INC
EVENT DATE: Dec 02, 2014
Our beautiful state has a tragic flaw: Maine is home to too many children and families living in poverty. There are 3,374 children in Washington and Hancock Counties live in poverty. That's 20% of our children in Downeast Maine! And long-term outcomes for children living in poverty can be bleak.
But the story isn't bleak for some children. Some children and their families have access to high quality childcare and early education that breaks cycles of poverty and that gives them the chance at a better life. These children do better in school, are more likely to go to college, have higher earnings as adults, and are less likely to interact negatively with the law. Parents of these children are more likely to increase their own education.
Your dollars make a big difference: Children and families living in poverty, with low to moderate incomes, need access to high quality childcare and early education. Your donations keep doors of access open for families.
And it is a good investment: Every dollar invested in high quality childcare and early education has a return on the investment of over $7 for every dollar. This means your gift goes seven times farther towards helping low to moderate income children, and their families, and your communities.
Our numbers: This year we are serving 159 infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families by providing high quality early care and education. We operate in 10 centers located in Washington and Hancock Counties. All of our programs are rated Step 4 by the state of Maine. That's the highest rating any early child care and education provider can get.
But 159 children is just a fraction of the children that need access to high quality childcare and early education. With your help, we can do more.
For all children and their families who deserve to have the doors of opportunity open for them, please support our campaign today. Thank you!!!
If you would like your gift to honor an important teacher or caregiver or parent who opened doors of opportunity for you, let us know and we will list your donation in their honor.
