We are MSU Campus Lions Club, a branch off of the international service organization Lions International. The month of September is observed as Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and so we are raising money during the month of September to donate in order to fund research necessary to better understand and work on a cure for childhood cancer.
Here are some facts on childhood cancer:
*In the US, around 15,780 children younger than 21 years old are diagnosed with cancer every year.
*Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US for children and adolescents (#1 being accidents).
*Nearly 2,000 children under the age of 21 are expected to die each year from cancer.
*Two-thirds of childhood cancer patients who survive will live with chronic conditions from treatment.
*Childhood cancer research is underfunded yet the only way to find a cure. Help us raise money to create awareness of childhood cancer and work towards a cure.
