Childhood Cancer Awareness for Blayk Sears
Organized by: Kate Sears
Dear Family & Friends,
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Cancer is a horrific disease and it is sad when we hear of those who are diagnosed and the statistics. Did you know that more than 50% of the children who are diagnosed with cancer are age 2 and under? Around 720 children are diagnosed with Cancer each day. Despite the many facts less than 5% of government funding for cancer is dedicated to Childhood Cancer each year.
Imagine enduring months of chemotherapy, countless needles, endless nausea, fevers and infections. Now imagine watching your child go through this. Unfortunately, there are many children and families at Children’s Mercy Hospital that are experiencing this nightmare right now. When Blayk Sears was diagnosed with an External Wilm’s Tumor at only 6 months of age, we were referred to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri. We believe that Blayk and ourselves; her parents; received the best care physically and mentally.
Funds raised for Children’s Mercy Oncology will support programs and services at Children’s Mercy Hospital that provide help, hope, care and support to children and families touched by cancer and their most immediate needs.
I am holding an Origami Owl party where all the proceeds raised will be donated to the Oncology Department at Children’s Mercy. Each person that places an order will receive a Gold Ribbon charm, (Childhood Cancer Awareness) at the end of the month as a thank you for your order and generosity. Simply, go to www.katesears.origamiowl.com and create your own locket or custom jewelry. When checking out use Jewelry Bar code 151366 to have your order submitted for Blayk’s fundraising. You will receive lovely jewelry along with supporting Children’s Mercy Oncology Department.
If you are not interested in jewelry and want to make a donation you can donate at www.crowdrise.com/ChildhoodCancerAwarenessforBlaykSears .
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to help!
All the Best,
