BENEFITING: Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
You can help make a child's life better!
The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York is home to specialized clinics for patients and families with rare genetic diseases. Many of these patients are diagnosed soon after birth by newborn screening - if you are in your 40's or younger and born in the US, you were likely screened and your children were as well!
Early detection is great but it means a lot of time spent in the doctor's office for these young patients. If you get nervous having your blood drawn as an adult, think about what it must be like to have to go through this on a weekly or monthly basis as a child.
Child Life is a specialized program that helps children and their families cope with the stress of these visits. Child Life Specialists can make a tremendous difference in the lives of these patients but the service is not paid for by insurance. The only way we can provide this important service to our patients is through the generous donations of people who want to make a difference in the life of a child dealing with a genetic disease. Your contributions will allow us to have a Child Life Specialist join our team and to provide even better care to our young patients.
Thank you for your support!
