BENEFITING: Lake Leisure Inc

For developing children, play is learning. Children learn to solve problems, make decisions, persevere, and interact with the people and objects in the environment. They develop language, symbolic thinking, social skills, and motor skills. Physical play has many positive outcomes. Many studies show the benefits of physical activity for children. They are healthier, have higher self-esteem and are better prepared to learn. Playgrounds are an ideal environment for supporting overall healthy development.
Currently, there is not a truly inclusive playground in Dublin-Laurens County where children with special needs can play. Because of this, I am collaborating with the Community Service Board of Georgia and Lake Leisure, Inc., to build a playground that is inclusive for all children.
We want all children to have the option in Dublin-Laurens County to play together at a park that is inclusive for all. An inclusive playground is one which may be used by any child, including children with special needs. Besides having accessible equipment the groundcover and other items will be such that children with special needs have access to the equipment (wood chips are not an option).
Please make a donation today. Your donation will help a child feel the simple joy of feeling the wind in their hair on a swing, or laughing with friends in the sand at a playground in Dublin-Laurens County.
