A Chance to Change Lives – Game on!
For over 75 years, Children International has been providing critical assistance to children and families struggling in terrible poverty. Through their one-to-one child sponsorship program, they reduce the burden of poverty on impoverished children, invest in their potential and provide them with opportunities to grow up healthy, educated and prepared to succeed and contribute to society. Children International helps approximately 340,000 children through 17 agencies in 11 countries around the world, including United States, Mexico, The Philippines, India, etc.
I support Children International sponsoring a 4 years old girl in Philippines, Shanara Lee. My sponsored child receives health and dental care, as well as medicine and nutritional support to help her to stay healthy. She also receives basic necessities like sturdy shoes and clothing, school uniforms, tuition or supplies so that poverty doesn’t stand in the way of her education.
As most children at some point in their lives, Shanara Lee and all the other children in the program, will dream of being winners. The rush of scoring the big one…the bleachers going wild…the ride back to the locker room on the shoulders of teammates. But when they open their eyes from their dreams, they are greeted by the stark reality of their poverty and the realization of the near certainty that those dreams are destined to fade.
Children International program, Game On! gives youth the chance to compete in community sports leagues and training while learning important principles such as teamwork, conflict resolution and perseverance. The activities build youths’ confidence and help unify communities around a shared interest in local sports. And Game On! coaches and coordinators serve as positive examples for young boys and girls who are inundated with negative influences like gang activity, drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence.
I want to make their dreams come true and that is why I have decided to run 100 miles (http://vermont100.com/ ) on July 20, 2013 to support their dreams and give them the opportunity to know what it’s like to hear applause... the encouraging voices of coaches and teammates…and the satisfaction of being part of a team.
Help me to create opportunities for children and youth to safely play without fear of gangs and crime, while teaching them the value of teamwork, conflict resolution and perseverance through organized sports!
Any amount we can raise together will help the children and we will transform their life. Any amount count, even a dollar!!
Thanks in advance for helping thousands of children!
