BENEFITING: CHILDREN MENDING HEARTS INC
On Saturday, September 25, 2010, Children Mending Hearts (CMH), a national 501c3 organization based in Los Angeles will join forces with the City of Las Vegas, Street Teens, Hope for Homeless Teens, Nevada Homeless Alliance, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, HELP of Southern Nevada, Shade Tree, the Clark County School District and their community partnership arm and others to bring our Please Mr. President campaign to Las Vegas.
CMH is a global arts exchange between at-risk children in America and children living in conflict zones that educates, empowers and encourages children and gives them a voice, inspiring them to a sense of empathy and desire for peace.
Founded in 2008 by Lysa Heslov, the purpose of CMH is to give children worldwide the power to find and use their voices through creative expression. CMH conducts workshops in the arts in America with local homeless and at-risk children's organizations, and internationally with NGO's such as Women for Women and the International Medical Corps supporting children in conflict zones.
Domestically, CMH empowers local organizations that work with disadvantaged and at-risk children throughout the country. CMH finds out what the participating organizations need, where they are lacking, and where they need help. CMH then brings in a volunteer pool so that when they leave a city after their workshop those volunteers are able to execute the Take Action points that CMH has given them. Las Vegas will be our largest workshop to date.
The organizations listed above will be an integral part of the event as our partners and in a unique component will also be on hand to provide information, necessary items such as toiletries and general information for those kids who may not be aware of what assistance is available.
