BENEFITING: CHILDREN'S SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL FOUNDATION INC
My 2-year old nephew, Maison Manalo, was diagnosed with hypotonia as an infant. His challenging life has inspired all of us to confront all challenges ahead of us. His mom and dad have set up a fitness challenge for friends and family to join in until Maison walks. Our personal struggles in the gym, on a treadmill, or doing any physical activities serve as a reminder of the physical progress that Maison strives for.
I had no idea what hypotonia was before Maison. Hypotonia, commonly known as floppy baby syndrome, is a state of low muscle tone (the amount of tension or resistance to stretch in a muscle), often involving reduced muscle strength.
The support system that Maison has been provided by organizations like the Children's Specialized Hospital have helped him with his challenges.
I'm running this marathon on behalf of Maison's pursuit to walk!
