BENEFITING: CHILDREN'S AID
ORGANIZER: CHILDREN'S AID
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
I’m a passionate Restaurant Hospitality Professional in her early-30’s with a very demanding work schedule and a joy for running. I ran my first 1/2 Marathon on the third anniversary of my quitting smoking and have not looked back. I’m committed to my success, including my health and happiness!
I first began running in grade school when I ran track & field until high school. Unfortunately, I started smoking at that time, which interrupted and stalled my running career leading me to quit in high school. I continued smoking until I was 27, when I went cold turkey.
Three years later, at the age of 30, I began running again. I first trained for the Women’s Health Magazine’s First Annual 10K for the FEED Foundation. Hooked on the long distance running high, I decided to step up my game and started training with Team In Training for my first 1/2 Marathon, fundraising on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Since that time, I have now completed four 1/2 Marathons, two with Team In Training fundraising a total of $2,900 to benefit the LLS.
The TCS New York City Marathon will be my first Full Marathon and will be a dream come true as I have always wanted to run my first 26.2 miles in the city that raised me. Additionally, I am thrilled to run in support of The Children’s Aid Society, which helps children living in poverty to succeed and thrive. I believe whole heartedly that children are the world's hope for future greatness and supporting the children of today is securing the potential success for tomorrow. It's an honor to aid in the realization of this important, necessary goal.
Help make a difference in the communities that we serve by supporting our runners with a team fundraising goal of $25,000.
