BENEFITING: CHILDREN'S AID
ORGANIZER: CHILDREN'S AID
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
My passion for running has taken me around the world – I have trained for 10Ks and half marathons throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Spain. It has become one of my favorite ways to explore cultures and different locations.
While living in Colorado and Illinois my exploration helped me truly see the urban environment I lived in. My philanthropy efforts were born out of my time in these locations. Even before I became a father, I have had a strong connection to helping urban youth. I have served on multiple nonprofit boards in this topic area.
Since having sons of my own, I have gained firsthand experience in the needs of growing children. Early intervention is a key factor in their later success in life. The Children’s Aid Society has a strong early childhood program focusing on family involvement, health, and socio-emotional wellbeing. After learning more about the nonprofit and the children and family they serve, joining Team Children’s Aid was an obvious way to combine my two passions and run for a cause; especially for my first marathon!
