Childrens Shopping Tour
Organized by: Michelle Bloom
EVENT DATE Dec 13, 2014
Do you remember that feeling when you were a kid on Christmas morning, or as a parent enjoying the smile on your childrens faces as they open " that gift" on Christmas morning. Imagine that you could not give that to your family. What if you were scraping pennies just to feed your children. Knowing that the living room would not have any Christmas gifts under your tree on Christmas morning.
I believe that everyone needs a little help at some time in their lives, and that the help they receive often translates into hope and motivation for them. That is one of the main reasons why I decided to organize the Childrens Shopping tour for the Redford Jaycees this year. I think everyone deserves to have that magic on Christmas morning and I wanted to help make that happen for some of the children in my community.
Every year the Redford Jaycees host this event where they choose children from the Redford area that are in need. They take each of these children on a shopping trip to pick out and purchase gifts for the members in their families. This helps make the children feel good to be able to brighten their families Christmas. There is also a secret shopper who will watch what the child looks at for themselves, cause we all know, even when shopping for others, our minds just seem to stray to the things that we want or need. The children and their families are then invited to a holiday party with food and fun, in their honor. While the families enjoy themselves all the gifts are wrapped and readied to present to each family for them to enjoy on Christmas morning. The hope is that this will brighten their holidays and give the family some hope in a time that for most families in need is a very depressing and overwhelming time.
I know some of you often "adopt a family" for the holidays, so this could be just the ticket for providing a family with some holiday spirit. Any amount you can give would be so greatly appreciated. Imagine that feeling of knowing, while you are enjoying your family and gifts on Christmas morning, another family is able to do so as well, thanks to your generosity!
