BENEFITING: Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation
ORGANIZER: Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
As many of you may know, my son Brady was born premature on July 1, 2015 at 26 weeks and came into the world weighing 1 pound 5 ounces. Brady was transferred to Children's Hospital 3 days after he was born and has spent 119 days to fight to grow and live. Brady has taken an extraordinary journey where he went through multiple blood transfusions, required different levels of breathing support due to chronic lung disease, eye surgery and other various types of treatment for premature conditions. Brady came home on October 27, 2015, weighing 8 pounds.
Brady's journey has been an inspiration and while it has been much more challenging than any marathon could ever be, I will be running the 2016 Pittsburgh Marathon to fundraise for the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation in Brady's honor. Children's has been critical for Brady's survival and we are forever grateful for the treatment and care he has received from the amazing doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital. Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh saves thousands of lives each year - my son being one of them. Thank you for any contribution you can provide!
