BENEFITING: Children Today
Children Today has embarked on a bold project to create a new, state-of-the-art preschool and daycare center that is specially designed and purpose-built to meet the unique needs of children who are experiencing homelessness or abuse & neglect. This new space is called EcoHouse.
EcoHouse will be a state of the art, LEED-certified child development facility, earning that designation by using environmentally responsible resources and practices in design, construction, operation, and maintenance. Located at Long Beach Boulevard and Spring Street in Long Beach, EcoHouse will be big enough to allow us to merge all of our programs into one space, and will eventually enable us to expand our service capacity.
Thoughtful and sustainable design elements will be programmed throughout the facility, encouraging play and active lifestyles both indoors and out. Upon arrival, children and families will be greeted with an inviting reception area that looks through to the back patio. Natural light will filter through clerestories and skylights, highlighting whimsical wall graphics and colors and creating a cheery environment for children.
Eco House will be a beautiful place in the heart of Long Beach where the children and families we serve will feel welcomed and cared for. It will be a sanctuary from the harsh environments that families experiencing homelessness typically face. It will reflect our core values about doing what’s best for children. Beyond that, its beauty and sustainable design will contribute to the neighborhood and make the City proud.
Philanthropic support is essential to make sure our new home is everything these children need and deserve. That's why we are launching the Foundation for the Future Campaign. Contributors will be setting a new standard for the type of care children experiencing homelessness should have, and leaving a legacy of compassion and generosity that will last for generations.
