The Utility Assistance program is designed to help individuals achieve relief with their electric bill. However, our program seeks to add some degree of “credit evaluation” and budgeting to the equation to assist in the prevention of economic issues. Maintaining (and actively repairing) credit is an integral part of building assets and sustaining personal financial well-being. A family’s acceptance into the Utility Program is not solely based on the credit score or whether there is credit present. We consider the ability to handle current expenses and financial obligations as an overall indicator. We also consider the your total outstanding debt and if there are any judgments, tax liens, and / or other collections that could hinder a family’s success in the program.
