Hoping that Marathon #3 will be the LUCKIEST of all... #AtDukeThereIsHope. Raising money for a Brain Cancer victim and future survivor!! All charities will go straight to the "Karl Crigger Benevolent Fund."
Someone near and dear to my family's heart was diagnosed with everybody’s worst nightmare…a very aggressive form of brain cancer (Glioblastoma) for this strong, hardworking 53 year-young family man. This year, I am raising funds to offset out-of-state and out-of-network medical expenses while being treated for Glioblastoma (brain cancer) at Duke University. All charities will go straight towards the "Karl Crigger Benevolent Fund" https://www.crowdrise.com/karlcrigger
Karl is currently receiving radiation and chemotherapy at The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke His treatment regimen is very thorough as he is under consideration for the groundbreaking Polio Virus Trial. Karl’s case will be unusually expensive as all of his healthcare will be delivered “out-of-plan, out-of-state, and out-of-network” due to the occurrence while traveling and the severe nature of the final diagnosis.
Very fortunate for Karl, Duke Medical Center is onto a “cure” for this particular brand of tumor, and Karl could be an ideal candidate upon any reoccurrence of the tumor. Therefore, the necessity to continue his treatment (out-of-plan) at Duke is critical. Under these circumstances, we are uncertain what Karl’s financial responsibility will ultimately be after medical claims are processed. We do know that copays, deductibles and uncovered benefits have been very expensive. We also know that access to the Polio Clinical Trial at Duke will be very expensive without of any insurance coverage.
We ask that you give forward for this family to help cover medical expenses to allow him to receive the best medical treatment he could possibly be given at a place believed to be top in the Nation. If it were not dire, we would not be asking for your support.
By helping Karl, you are not only helping to improve the quality of his and families lives; you are also helping future brain cancer victims. Karl enjoys his life! He especially enjoys time with family, friends and two dogs (Fred and Barney). He also likes bird and game hunting, motorcycling, travelling, and flying airplanes. He's well known in the Genesee County area in Michigan for many years. He and his wife raised two daughters in the Fenton Schools, and Karl was a Fenton City Fire Fighter (saving lives). Most recently he served the Genesee County with a successful Landscaping and Snow Plowing business he has shared with his wife and daughter.
To meet Karl is to become an instant "buddy." He makes you feel as if you've been a friend for a long time. As Karl says...."brother from another mother!" He has a big, kind heart. He would give the shirt off his back to help others… PLEASE reach out and give forward to raise the necessary funds to help Karl and ease his anxiety of paying for the groundbreaking medical treatment at Duke.
THANK YOU for all of the support,
