Chords 2 Cure: Pediatric Cancer Fundraising Concert 2016
Organized by: Meredith Pegula
EVENT DATE Apr 24, 2016
Jaxon Blumenthal was diagnosed at age 11 with Hepatoblastoma, a rare form of pediatric liver cancer. He underwent 6 grueling rounds of chemotherapy and a full liver transplant. He was treated at UCLA under the care of his oncologist, Dr. Federman and Dr. Busuttil & Dr. McDairmid (liver team).
Statistics and Facts:
1 in 330 children will be diagnosed by cancer by the time they are 20.
Every day approximately 250 children (around the world) die of cancer every day.
The cause of most pediatric cancers are still unknown and are very different from adult cancers…
And yet only 4% of the federal government’s total funding for cancer research is dedicated to children’s cancers.
2/3 of all pediatric cancer survivors will have long lasting chronic conditions from cancer treatments. Therefore — we MUST find a cure!!
On Sunday April 24th at 7:30pm XRDS 8th grade teens will perform in the 2nd Annual, CHORDS 2 CURE concert at The Moss Theater at New Roads School in Santa Monica to raise money for pediatric cancer in honor of fellow musician, singer, cancer survivor & friend, Jaxon Blumenthal. Lucas Wurman & Juliette Pegula (his close friends) decided to organize and perform this special concert with Jaxon and their talented peers once again to help raise money for pediatric cancer research as it is the most underfunded of all cancers.
To cover the cost of the The Moss Theater, we need to raise $3000. We want to reach our fundraising goal of $10,000 so that we can give $7000 to make a difference for children afflicted with cancer. We will be giving the money raised directly to Dr. Federman, Jaxon's oncologist at UCLA who is making great efforts in research to find a cure for pediatric cancer. Your donation makes a huge difference! Please help us make this happen!
