BENEFITING: FOUNTAIN OF LIFE
EVENT DATE: Jul 02, 2017
This rural community in Zambia's Chibombo district, centered around Chipali Village, has 230 pupils enrolled (less than half of the school-age children in the surrounding villages). 3 volunteer teachers cover grades 1-7, in a roofless shell of a church and a thatched open-sided chalet.
$35,000 will enable us to build a 3 classroom block equipped with desks and two teachers offices, allowing Chowe Community School to double it's enrollment, get the children off the floor, and provide shelter from the elements during their lessons.
This community is 5 hours drive from the nearest main tarmac road and is struggling with illiteracy, gender in-equlity, disease and poverty. A basic level of education provides these children with the oppotunity to break these cycles, restores their dignity, and provides hope for private enterprise and sustainabilty, for theirs and future generations.
Please partner with us today to raise the necessary funds to get this construction underway and the children in school before the heavy rains come in late November.
