BENEFITING: Chris Lantos Foundation
EVENT DATE: Sep 18, 2016
Come and walk with us at the annual CureFestDC childhood cancer event on September 18, 2016 at noon on the DC National Mall. By joining our team you can raise money with us or you can donate online here on this page. All proceeds will go to the Chris Lantos Foundation (CLF) to support kids with cancer.
In memory of Chris' 16th birthday on September 29, 2016, the goal of the Chris Lantos Foundation is to raise funds for 16 iPads through the rest of this calendar year to donate them to 16 kids with cancer currently receiving treatment in a hospital/clinic in the United States.
We believe that iPads have great potential to ease cancer-treatment related loneliness, boredom and anxiety in children. iPads can help them stay in touch with friends and family, get relaxed, play games and learn about their illness and treatment.
During his illness Chris always had an iPad or a computer with him so he could be in touch with his friends and keep up with schoolwork.
Here is what a parent of a child stricken with cancer said:
“Sarah has never had an Ipad to use at home. Ever since we got it she has been playing games and more significantly has been doing Facetime repeatedly with friends and relatives - in particular with my sister and my mother, who live in Canada and whom she has not seen since she got ill. This has helped with communication and reducing isolation and made a big difference for our family. Thank you again sincerely.” - Sarah’s dad
Since 2013 the CLF donated more than 80 iPads to pediatric cancer facilities and individual kids.
The Chris Lantos Foundation is a 501 c (3) charity. Your contribution is fully tax deductable.
