Chris Pinkstons Kidney Fundraiser
Organized by: Chris Pinkston
My name is Chris Pinkston , I am currently 39 (3/28/77) and I am raising funds to assist in medical expenses not covered by insurance. I have now been on dialysis for the past 4 years and have been on the waiting list for a transplant for just as long. Unfortunately medications for this are insanely priced and once I am able to receive a transplant I will be unable to work for what hopefully pro especially to be a short period of time. The original cause of my kidney failure is a hereditary disease known as Alports Syndrome. Unfortunately there was no cure for this disease, only treatment to try and slow it's progress. In women it is generally more controllable but in men it almost always destroys kidney function. I have been lucky because it is known to take your hearing and sometimes vision but I have not suffered from either of those. However I now have zero kidney function and patiently await a transplant but in the mean time myself and wit the help of some very good friends we are raising funds to help me once I do receive a transplant. Most of you know about my recent heart attack leading to needing to have double bypass surgery. This has rendered me unable to work until I am cleared to return to work. Fortunately I have been able to turn to some of the funds already raised while I've been unable to work which has been a life saver. Without that I don't know where I would be now. I am switching resources as to who I'm using to raise these funds because HelphopeLive just isn't working any longer. That I will not get into but they have been of assistance the last few years. They just simoly can not provide what they promised when I initially agreed to work with them. I am always happy to answer questions or just talk if you would like. I am also always interested in at least spreading awareness about organ donation and just how important do action is. Thank you very much for all your help!
