Prisca comes from an area in Northwestern Kenya near the Ugandan border taking three days to get from there to Daraja Academy. She is one of nine children. Because of the poverty of her father, she was taken in by her uncle when she was a child. She explains, “I stayed there so long, even I forgot whom were my parents.” Prisca was forced into an early marriage by her uncle without the knowledge of her father. It was a terrible time in her life where she cried a lot, suffered a lot, and was very alone. When her father heard about what happened, he called the area chief and they went and rescued Prisca. She was able to return to school and scored very well on her 8th grade examination.
Prisca has incredible hope for the future and wants to be an accountant. She has a loving father who will always care for her, and now Daraja Academy, will help her to prepare to reach her dreams.
