WE STAND WITH CBAMS!!
Organized by: Dave Pine
Dear Family, Friends, and friends we haven’t met yet, Cancer seems to touch everyone’s life. It flips the world upside-down of those diagnosed by it, the loved ones of those diagnosed by it, and the communities that those people live within…and beyond. Our dear friend and loved one, Chris Bamford has now been touched by it.
On Saturday January 9th, Chris had been sitting on the couch watching football when he started feeling this pain near his appendix. Not knowing what this phantom pain was, he and his fiancée Beth decided to take a trip to the emergency room. Once they arrived, nurses and doctors knew there was something wrong with Chris almost immediately. His blood pressure was spiking, his heart rate was through the roof and his hemoglobin count was 1/3 of what a healthy 34 year old male should have been. After countless tests, Chris was admitted to the hospital and given two blood transfusions. See, the doctors found that he had been bleeding internally for quite some time. After a CT scan, they had all their answers.
The doctors told Chris that he had a large cancerous mass on his colon that was causing the internal bleeding and was irritating the appendix. Not only that, but the mass had metastasized to his liver and his lungs. The liver was what they were most concerned about, as they diagnosed Chris with advanced colorectal cancer and stage 4 liver cancer.
2 days later, surgery was performed to take out half of Chris’ colon. The procedure went as well as the surgeons could have thought. After 9 days recovering in the hospital, Chris was discharged and is comfortably recovering at home.
We’ve started this campaign to raise money to help this great friend in need. With the cost of medical bills and procedures likely not covered by insurance, we’re hoping to defray some of the out of pocket medical costs and offer him some comfort. Please contribute whatever you can and help us show Chris and Beth that we have their back during this difficult time. We want to make sure that any money left over goes toward cancer research so we can stop cancer once and for all. We want to help Chris through this—and I hope you can help us do that, too.
Chris knows this challenge will not be met without the fiercest fight—even with a smile on his face and a witty joke along the way. Chris is determined to fight this thing "like Tom Brady fought Deflate Gate". He will be out of commission for a while and will begin an aggressive form of chemo treatment in the next few weeks. This cancer has no idea who it is up against, and the support system he has behind him. From Chris’ Fiancée Beth, Chris’ family, Beth’s family, Chris’ four legged best friend Bodhi, and the incredible network of friends who have already reached out and shown their support—Chris will overcome this challenge.
Thank you in advance for all your support, Family and Friends of Chris Bamford
*Please share this campaign with anyone and everyone through whatever social media outlet, word of mouth, or traditional modes of communication you can possibly think of. The Bamford Family, Chris’ Fiancée Beth DeVries and her family, and every single one of Chris’ amazing friends say thank you for supporting Chris. Let’s do this! #westandwithCbams
