“You wouldn't believe it if I told you, but I can run like the wind blows.”
Ok, well maybe not really. But I do like to run.
It all started when Kaitlyn, my wife, made me start exercising with her. I did a few workout programs with her to start getting back into shape. And then one day, just like Forest Gump, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run.
I started small – running laps around neighborhood streets. And then I did a few 5K races – the Shawn Nassanney Memorial at Bryant University, and a few others. Kaitlyn thought I was crazy, running outside in the winter cold or on extremely hot summer days. But I loved every step.
Running had become my favorite pastime (aside from spending time with Kaitlyn and the kids). So with a few 5Ks under my belt, I decided to run a half marathon. Not wanting to stop there, I then ran the 2015 Hartford Marathon. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
With all my races, I try and participate in those that raise money for worthy causes. Giving back is a big part of my family, so I was honored to support a program started by my father, Laptops for Troops, when I ran Hartford. And it’s why I am so thrilled and honored to be a part of Team HOPe for the 2019 Boston Marathon.
HOPe stands for House of Possibilities, which is an amazing Massachusetts organization that works to make a difference in the lives of children, adults and their families, who are living with developmental challenges, by providing high quality programs, some much needed relief, and a whole lot of hope.
I have both a personal and professional connection to HOPe and their mission, and I’m excited to support them with this race.
I’m asking that you take a few minutes to learn more about HOPe and join me in supporting this amazing organization. Your donation will not only support me and my dream of running Boston, but will also allow HOPe to continue to provide special care to those with significant challenges.
P.S. Did you know that you could double or even triple the value of your donation?!? Don’t forget to check with you and/or your spouse’s employer to see if they match employees’ charitable contributions. If so, I can help provide you with any of the necessary forms or paperwork they may need. Thank you so much for your support!
