Chris's Recovery and Rehab after Stroke
Organized by: Sean Boyle
I met Chris in 2010 at a restaurant we both worked at in southern California. We became friends and helped each other out often.
When my car broke down, he was the one to come get me, and help with getting my car towed.. When he was car-less at the beginning, I drove him home often from work. He also took me about 100 miles away one day to go to a gov't office, but I had no car at the moment. He's a good, fun, giving guy in the prime of his life.
Then he had a stroke, caused by hypertension, one night. This ONE moment changed everything for him, Unfortunately, he has basic insurance, but it is not covering the important physical and speech therapy he needs. This is now one and a half years later. No progress, because no one has stepped up to either pay, or get insurance to cover this.
He is in a rehab place now, but it only provides his basic needs. He can barely speak, he cannot walk, and his general health is declining. After a visit yesterday I realize he needs attention, so I'm doing what I can to help him.
With this money, I want to get him in a 'home', meaning either my home, and bring in physical and speech therapists daily, or a more proper rehab facility that is proactive in their rehabilitation of their clients.
Chris is a fun guy who loves (loved) all things Broadway and entertainment. He could and would quote lines from his favorite, obscure shows, whether on tv or the stage. He is in a city far from family (he is in the west, his family is in the east), and his parents are elderly, and he has no siblings. Cousins seem to be his only family, and they are thousands of miles away, with their own lives..
PLEASE help Chris so we can get him the therapy he so desperately needs, and get him into either a home, or at least a facility that really cares for, and helps stroke victims truly recover. thank you
