On February 9th, 2013, my world darkened many shades. I lost my beloved father and pillar of strength to complications from diabetes. My father worked hard and did all he could for whomever he could. If I could have done anything differently, I would have stepped in sooner to incorporate regular exercise in his daily routine. I have always been passionate about living a healthy lifestyle, which includes running in addition to a rigorous gym schedule. Being a diabetic myself-and previously on insulin injections 3x daily- I can attest to the fact that running can be a key instrument in going insulin-free, as it has for me. I am now in control of my diabetes through diet and exercise and you can do it too. If you are struggling with Type II Diabetes or don't ever want to deal with this silent killer.
I am running the NYC Half Marathon on March 16, 2013, in honor of my Dad. This is a "LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL" run. As he was on his journey to heaven, those were his last words to me. He has inspired me to be and do the best that I can. By supporting in this cause, please help me emulate my father in helping others. He wouldn't have had it any other way.
