Chris Salgardo, President of Kiehl’s Since 1851 U.S., has a long-standing appreciation for the brand: He has used the products for more than twenty years. Prior to his appointment in 2006, Salgardo would have said his ultimate aspiration was to be president of Kiehl’s. Since achieving that goal, Salgardo has more than doubled the size of the business.
Salgardo’s generosity mimics the philanthropy ingrained in Kiehl’s DNA. Under Salgardo’s charge, Kiehl’s has collaborated with top artists, celebrities, athletes and universities to raise substantial funds and awareness for its three pillar causes: HIV/AIDS, the environment and children’s well-being. This commitment was the focus of AdWeek’s Brand Genius award, bestowed upon Salgardo in 2011. In 2012, Salgardo received the Angel Award from Project Angel Food, which feeds individuals suffering from HIV/AIDS and cancer in Los Angeles and in 2013, Salgardo received the Leadership Award at TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art, a massive fundraiser for amfAR and the Dallas Museum of Art. Most recently, in 2014, Salgardo was honored with the Hope Award at the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s Legends Gala.
Salgardo has personally supported amfAR since 1994, and his desire to contribute combined with his love of motorcycles inspired the creation of Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR six years ago. Since its inception, LifeRide has raised more than $1,270,000 for amfAR.
Salgardo lives in Tribeca, NYC with his dog, Poppy.

Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR is an annual motorcycle charity ride through major U.S. cities that includes multiple high-profile events at Kiehl’s stores along the way to raise HIV/AIDS awareness and funds to help amfAR find a cure. At the conclusion of this year’s ride, Kiehl’s will have raised $1.2 million for amfAR. The 6th Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR is a 2,100-mile long journey that begins in Denver, CO on August 3 and ends in San Diego, CA on August 15. Learn more at www.kiehls.com and www.amfar.org.
