The Refugee Services program at MCC helps resettle refugees arriving in Minnesota. Chrissy has volunteered with the program for a few years and hand-picked it as her magical birthday fundraising cause. The people served by this program have endured the trauma of war, loss of friends and family and the uncertainty of waiting in a refugee camp (sometimes for many years). Arriving to the US to build a new life far from the one you left is scary and overwhelming.
MCC Refugee Services provide high quality programs to help families navigate complex systems and become self-sufficient. Just a few of these services include English class enrollment, city orientation, mental health services and job counseling. Volunteers help newly arrive refugees practice English, navigate public transit, grocery stores, job searches, resume submissions and all other things that can be completely foreign when arriving in a new country.
