After working in the apparel industry for over 10 years, I'm finally working towards my dream of starting a clothing brand. The fashion industry is notorious for its human rights violations, & terrible working conditions.
Knowing this, I've decided to move forward with traditional methods of creating garments. Having built a strong network of USA-based fabric suppliers, garment manufacturers & local printing experts over the past decade, I am uniquely positioned to create high quality, ethically sourced, stylish garments at affordable prices.
Why high quality? Because the more you wear each garment, the less you have to buy. That saves $$ for you and lessens the environmental impact on the planet. Only 2% of the clothing sold in the US is also made in the US. Fashion is the third most polluting industry in the world, after oil & agriculture. In China alone, the textile industry discharges about 2.5 billion tons of wastewater per year. This is completely unacceptable. It’s time to stop making excuses…
Why now? Because, enough is enough. Having studied this industry from the inside out, I know that many of these practices are unnecessary. High quality garments CAN be USA made, employees CAN be treated ethically & EVERYONE involved can make a decent living.
Starting an apparel line is very expensive, and up until now, I have been funding it all myself. With a little help, I could take things to the next level & start delivering on the promise of change - one garment at a time. I'm trying to raise $8000.00 to do three things – purchase a van (with repairs & customization), manufacture the first production run of hand-sewn garments & create brand catalogues (with photo shoot).
One successful ethical brand leads to another, which leads to another & eventually creates a shift in culture. Together, we can make lasting changes in the lives of millions. Let’s build something great together!
