Help the 'Hoosier Old Boys' support Christel House South Africa by competing in the Cape Epic Untamed African Mountain Bike Race
Cape Epic is an intense, 8 day, 698km mountain bike race through the Cape of South Africa. Andy Ording, the former president of Zipp, and Todd Winget have agreed to put their minds and bodies to the test on this grueling ride. The Hoosier Old Boys aren't just riding for major man-points though; their aim is to raise money for Christel House South Africa (CHSA), a school for impoverished children.
The Hoosier Old Boys want you to be a part of the team and are challenging you to help match Andy and Hermeine Ording's $25,000 gift to CHSA. The goal of their ride is to raise enough funds to install new sports fields and a bike track at CHSA. These sports fields give impoverished children the opportunity to develop important life skills. The challenge means that for every dollar you donate, they will personally match your gift, dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $25,000.
Are you up for the challenge?
“The Cape Epic is progressively becoming an iconic endurance event on the world calendar, and finishing this event is and will always be an enormous achievement. It is an immense physical and mental challenge, with riders spending many hours preparing and training for the title of ‘Cape Epic Finisher’,” said Kevin Vermaak, Director and Founder of the Cape Epic. Cyclingnews.com reports that 1,200 cyclists, world champions and dedicated amateurs, will participate in the ‘most prestigious mountain bike race in the world’.
Will you help match their efforts?
“I decided I wanted to be someone who DID something about changing the situation,” said Ording when asked about why he wanted to help improve the lives of children in South Africa. “A normal human being would have simply volunteered, right? However in a moment of complete lunacy I decided to ride the Cape Epic and even more so, talked my good friend Todd Winget into trying this adventure with me!” This will be Andy and Todd’s second year impacting the lives of children through participating in the Cape Epic Untamed African Mountain Bike Race.
Help Todd and Andy make a difference by accepting the Ording's match challenge. With your help we can double their efforts and make a bigger impact.
