This is a return trip for CSSB to one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Our first trip was eye opening to see such extreme poverty in such a beautiful country. Our hearts were softened by the welcoming nature and the intense need of the people of Salinas/Popoyo Nicaragua. Last time, we were able to help the community by helping to build an addition to the community library, encouraging the community in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, and building relationships. This time we will continue to build on the relationships we started working on building homes for the people of Astillero. They currently live in plastic homes with dirt floors. They take long sticks that they make 4 corner posts out of and then wrap the whole thing in plastic. Some may have metal roofs but most do not. Waves of Love along with other missionaries like ourselves have started building in the area. Along with two completed homes, they are building above ground gardens (since the soil is so rocky) to allow the families to be more self sustaining and healthy as they will be able to supplement their diets.
We are raising money to be able to send 5-6 missionaries. The monies will be used for both airfare and other mission related expenses. We ask you to prayerfully consider financial supporting what God has called us to do and cannot wait to inform you how God used us when we return. We will be leaving for Nicaragua on August 1 and returning on August 10.
