The other day my friend set up a call for me to chat with her 8-year-old about architecture. She had been making 3d paper sculptures and floorplans on her own at home, and her mom wanted to provide her guidance & inspiration to nourish her interests. The child had prepared 5 questions for me about whether I'd recommend becoming an architect, how I prepared, why I wanted to become an architect. etc. I told her to keep in touch and maybe one day she could be my future intern! She showed me her creations over FaceTime (which were quite impressive). I told her I'd send her some books to learn more, & she could call me whenever she wanted. Her face lit up. The whole interaction totally made my day! I was also taking parenting notes :) It dawned on me that this interaction was totally an analog Gladeo moment, and I became even more passionate about the power of Gladeo to inspire and empower kids to pursue careers to which they'd otherwise not have exposure. Please join me in supporting Gladeo and make these types of interactions more accessible for children (& adults) of all socioeconomic backgrounds through the democratizing power of the internet and film.
