Christine is my best friend and one of the most loving, compassionate, loyal and (of course) silly people I have ever known. For those who do not know her story, it happens to be the most heartbreaking I have ever witnessed: Christine was the last born of six children to Eileen and Lawrence. She had a normal childhood, until shortly before her 16th birthday. She woke up to find that her father had passed away watching T.V, at some point through the night. For the next few years, they lost another family member every six months or so. Her brother James was lost to suicide, Micheal to drunk driving, Keith to a boating accident, Allison to complications in surgery and Jeffrey to a heart attack. For years, it has been just her and her mom left of the family, and through all the suffering and loss they became extremely close. A month ago, her mom became very ill and was diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma. In other words, late stage lung cancer. There was no funding or savings available for home care for Eileen, so Christine quit her job, gave notice on her apartment and went home to care for her dying mother. What she didn't know is that her mom had let her insurance lapse, she was unable to make the payments after she began feeling unwell and started taking more and more time off work. Eileen passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 14, 2016. You may be wondering, what is the point to telling you all of this? To cut right to the quick: Christine is quite literally alone in the world, with no parents and no siblings and now has to come up with both a security/damage deposit for a new apartment and pay for her mom's funeral, which has $4375 owing. Please, help her to cover this cost. I, myself, have given all I can to her personally and of all the people I know in the world, there is nobody more deserving. Thank you, for stopping to read Christine's story and most of all, thank you to all those who can help this poor girl out.
