Christine's Trip to Help Rebuild Kharki Gaun in Nepal
Organized by: Christine Hollander
EVENT DATE Oct 11, 2016
In April 2015 Nepal was struck by a powerful earthquake that killed more than 8,000 people and destroyed many villages. Despite massive relief funds to help with rebuilding this poor nation, the monies never reached the villages.
A year after the quake, the poorest of this beautiful country still live in tents and metal shacks without the hope of support. My sister Katrin Santosha Hintermeier has close ties to a particular village, Kharki Gaun in Nepal. Her organization is committed to not only assist with rebuilding the village, but also to empower the men and women to transform their lives and become completely autonomous and self-sustaining.
The goal of the trip is to ignite a sustainable economy by teaching the villagers to utilize a brick-machine that was funded by donations from my sister's organization not only to rebuild their houses but also to create an income for the village. We'll be teaching English. We'll be meeting with local builders to create plans for a school house in the village. We'll be working with the villagers to utilize micro-loans to create animal husbandry projects. We are generating funds to send children to school and college.
I have been so inspired by my sister's tireless commitment to stand for this village's rise to become independent with a self-sustaining economy. She has taught me so much about our world community, how important it is for us to show up and let them know they haven't been forgotten.
I feel a strong calling to be part of this, I want to meet these amazing people and find a way to help them rebuild their beloved village and create a local economy.
Your donation will not only make it possible for me to go, but also become part of a fund hat will go directly to the village to establish micro-loans. No donation is too small! Many, many thanks and blessings, Christine
