Christmas Village (North Pole in NE)
Organized by: Taryn T.
Christmas Village (North Pole in NE) is a chartable effort aimed at assisting low-income children in the N.E. section of Washington, DC during the holiday season with both meals and an opportunity to provide gifts to their loved ones. There are many school-aged children that do not eat if school is not in session and they are unable to eat school lunch and breakfast. During the month of December, when school is out of session for the holiday season, many go hungry. Our plan is to not only provide meals to children but to also operate a "Christmas Village" where children will be able to select gifts to give their parents, siblings and caregivers on Christmas. Imagine the joy on a child's face when he or she is able to give a gift on Christmas day! The money raised will be used to purchase healthy, nutritious meals for the children to receive (especially during the 8 days when DC Public schools are closed for the holidays) and to purchase gifts and supplies to make gifts (handmade dolls and artwork created by DC-based CreativaT) that children can select to give to their parents, caregivers and siblings on Christmas Day. Your generosity, especially on #GivingTuesday, for this community-based effort is greatly appreciated!!
