So it begins....
July 02, 2016
BENEFITING: TUESDAYS CHILDREN
ORGANIZER: Christopher
EVENT: 9/11 Promise Run - 2016
EVENT DATE: Sep 11, 2016
THE STORY:
Event Date: September 9-11, 2016
This event is being held to keep a promise that was made 15 years ago when our country, the United States of America, was attacked. Many lives were lost and we continue to deal with the aftermath. This event will honor the lives of those lost, the emergency personnel who responded with the greatest of courage, the folks today that continue to fight for this country’s safety and freedom, here and abroad, and the children and families who were directly impacted.
Relay teams consisting of 8-10 people will run over the course of three days starting near the Pentagon on Friday, 09/09/2016 and finishing at Ground Zero on Sunday, 09/11/2016. Over the course of 3 days each team will cover 245 miles. Each day the distance will vary. All teams must average a 10 minute mile pace to ensure the mileage is covered on a daily basis. This is not a race – but an event that is being held for a bigger cause. There will be no winner – or second place or third place. Rather, two charities will reap the benefits of fundraising that will occur between April 1 and October 1, 2016. Each runner will experience a journey that will entail running for an amazing cause, a weekend of fun with family and friends, and the opportunity to never forget and to always keep that promise.
There is no registration fee or participation fee. However, from April 1 to October 1, each individual will commit to raising a minimum of $1000 that will go directly to the two charities chosen to benefit from this event, Tuesday’s Children and the FealGood Foundation. Each participant, runner and/or volunteer, will be issued a Crowdrise fundraising webpage that he/she can create and provide a story as to why they are running. This webpage will allow for donors to directly donate to the two charities and a live feed will show how much has been donated.
