Wow! It's our last night in Chicago. The kids are downstairs watching a "horror movie." The quotes are because one of the students said she wanted to watch a horror movie, but it couldn't be too scary... and it couldn't have death in it... and... well, you get the idea. Still, they're screaming and laughing and it's a good sound.

The weekend has been a blur. Lots of last minute preparations and rewrites and rehearsals. It was a beautiful day yesterday here in Chicago, but they worked their butts off until about 3:00 PM, until they finally surfaced for a late lunch and some sightseeing.

I'm sorry that the blog is still blank. When we finally had a spare moment, we didn't have the heart to tell the kids to do anymore thinking.

The presentation went off great. All their hard work showed in a really well polished presentation. Afterwards, they answered questions from the room (which was at capacity) with real poise. And in the end, you could see on their face the pride of such hard work.

This is all to say thank you for giving. Your money went toward everything from tickets for the el and taxis to emergency shoes when one of their sandals broke at millennium park. It paid for them to stand on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower Sky-deck and to eat their first deep dish pizza (and sandwiches... and trader joe's groceries.. and sandwiches again ) and much much more.

Thank you for your investment in these students. We've had an incredible weekend that couldn't have happened without you.

Whoa! We did it. Today, no…
Whoa! We did it. Today, not 48 hours before we fly out, we made it to 100% of our goal. I cannot tell you how much this means to all of us.

I've been showing our fundraising page to all of my classes today to show them how much kindness exists in this country where the news sometimes fixates on the negative feelings towards immigrants. Many of the students don't even really know how to comprehend that you folks, who have never met these students, would be willing to help them.

We will keep the blog updated. In fact, I'll try and send you all a link again once we get our first post up.

Thank you for making a differences. We had donations large and small and everyone of them mattered.

Cheers,
Jesse
