BENEFITING: PRAYERS FROM MARIA FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Feb 24, 2013
You may have noticed that I wear a pink wristband every day and get emotional every time I see sunflowers. This is because they remind me of friends I love who lost their seven year old daughter, Maria, to a brainstem glioma and help me to remember what's important in life.
On Sunday, February 24, 2013, I will be running the Tokyo Marathon primarily for the purpose of raising awareness and bringing the Prayers From Maria Foundation across the world. Please just take 3 minutes to watch the video about Maria's story and learn about the Prayers From Maria Foundation by clicking on the right arrow below my picture and then clicking on Maria's picture.
Thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer each year. One-third of those children are diagnosed with brain tumors, and nearly half of those brain tumors are gliomas. Over 97% of children with the worst of the gliomas, diffuse pontine gliomas, die within three years. We cannot ignore this shocking statistic, and we hope that you won’t either. The Prayers From Maria Foundation needs your help.
My goal is to raise $1,000 for the Prayers From Maria Childrens Glioma Cancer Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit charity. The money raised will go directly to funding research of pediatric high-grade gliomas. The Prayers From Maria Foundation is dedicated to funding global research into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for the deadliest childhood brain tumors known as gliomas, while raising public awareness about gliomas and bringing hope to the children and families who deal with the hardships of this disease.
