I heard about Vogel Alcove from a radio ad in 2012 while driving to work and immediately knew I wanted to be involved.
That same day, I researched Vogel Alcove and signed up for orientation where I toured the school and began volunteering. The very first walk through of the school (this was not the beautiful nice shiny school you see today but the single story original building) my heart melted and tears welled up as I could not believe these beautiful happy children were homeless. I was immediately hooked. I began researching for a young professionals group and found a link on the website to contact Karen Hughes and I reached out to her. I was surprised to get an immediate answer from the CEO and we began discussing a YP group. After many strategy sessions we finally launched FLIGHT YPO.
I was truly taken back with how such a vibrant city like Dallas would have struggling homeless children and I was in awe of the good works and services Vogel was providing to not only the children but parents as well. There is no better cause than helping children in need in your community and it can be a life changing experience.
