BENEFITING: City of Hope
I write to you today as I am in training for yet another "Chucks Ride for Hope" as I represent City of Hope at the upcoming Tour de Palm Springs in February. I again ask your support in any amount you feel compelled to give as I ride 100 miles for those who dream of the day they can run, ride or walk in a world that is cancer free. I will also be representing those with Diabetes as City of Hope has embarked on aggressive research to help those inflicted with Diabetes. Funds raised will go towards City of Hope's National Home Furnishings Industry Groups's West Coast Golf & Tennis Tournament. Please let me ride for you as you make a difference in so many lives all over the world as we support City of Hope and the fight against Cancer and Diabetes.
Last week I had the opportunity to take a special tour of City of Hope in Duarte California. I have been there so many times but never did it touch me like this. I sat with a doctor who showed me a cell infected with cancer and how a T-Cell trained to identify it, sought out the cancer cell without harming the surrounding good cells. It attacked that cell and in seconds it was gone. So simple, I thought, I just witnessed the cure for cancer. Well, close but not quite. A petrie dish is not quite the human body but... What I was witnessing was a process that has not yet been approved for market but they are right on track.
I was at the research center where ideas become reality. What takes these ideas to reality is the generosity of so many of us who have been in some way touched by cancer. City of Hope is so unique as it offers treatment in its hospital but is surrounded by research facilities that devote their energy to providing hospitals all over the world solutions for cancer related issues. Thank you for joining me in transforming the future of health and turning hope into reality for so many deserving patients and their families. For more info on City of Hope visit: www.cityofhope.org
