Hello! I stumbled across CHUM a couple of years ago when my daughter was doing some volunteer work with a friend for Bonnie on "Free Ride" Monday. I went to pick her up and I had brought my son who has some pretty significant special needs. When we walked into the arena, Bonnie didn't blink an eye and told me to get my son a helmet. So I did. I put it on him, he marched up the ramp and climbed on the horse like he had been doing it his entire life. We've been going to CHUM ever since.
It is difficult to put into words all of the benefits my son has had as a result of riding. I guess for me, as a parent of a child with special needs, it feels so good to watch what he can do, when a lot of the time, we are being told all the things he cannot do.
Bonnie and her staff are simply amazing. Every person that comes into her arena is made to feel important and made to feel that they matter. Her faith and her love for her job are evident in everything she does.
I don't believe in coincidences and I am forever thankful for that "Free Ride" Monday.

I had heard nothing but wonderful things about CHUM from my daughter’s classmate's parents as well as from Ann, so I decided to give it a try. My daughter Emma is five years old and was born with some significant special needs. She struggles to sit, stand, and walk.
Emma had been horseback riding when she was younger and loved the experience so we decided to give CHUM a try. When we walked into the arena we were greeted by friendly staff members and felt like we were a part of a family. Emma enjoyed her first ride and we are looking forward to making it a part of our monthly activities.
Horseback riding gives Emma an opportunity to work on her core muscles as well as accomplish things she would otherwise not be able to do. I echo the sentiment that it is so nice to see what Emma can do instead of what she can't. As a parent of a special needs child all I want is for Emma to be happy and enjoy life and horseback riding provides her both.
