BENEFITING: KARMA RESCUE INC
Karma Rescue saved Chunk from a high-kill shelter after meeting him and seeing just how special this boy is!
Chunk is quite the celebrity amongst our volunteers, everyone loves him! He is part of our Education team. As a breed ambassador, Chunk visits schools around the Los Angeles area teaching the importance of spay/neuter, promotes adoption vs buying a dog from a breeder and educates the students about pit bulls by combating the inaccuracies and stereo-types that have been falsely created. He also takes part in our Education Program, "Reading Isn't Ruff", where reluctant readers of all ages overcome their fears about reading as they read out loud to Chunk.
Chunk's only shortcoming is his severe separation anxiety and a few days ago when his foster left, Chunk panicked and jumped through his foster’s apartment window, 4 stories down!! Miraculously, Chunk survived the fall and is going to pull through, but he did sustain some very serious injuries. He broke his femur and required major surgery to fix his leg. At his check up, Karma was told by the surgeon that he needs a second surgery to fix the plate in his bone that had shifted. He also will need weeks of physical therapy.
We are so thankful that Chunk survived because there was a chance this would have been a fatality. In addition to the broken femur, his lungs and liver were bruised and he required days of observation before doing the first surgery to make sure his body wasn't in shock and was working properly.
Chunk is a survivor. He not only survived being abandoned at a shelter but he survived this as well. We now need to do what is right and bring this special guy back to good health.
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and this has been a costly undertaking. We are asking YOU, our supporters, to help Karma raise funds for Chunk's surgeries and for training to help him overcome his anxiety and fear of being left alone.
Chunk is such a happy and lovable guy, he has already brought so much joy to so many people both young and old. We know there is still a bright future ahead for him and with YOUR help we can get him all fixed up and his tail wagging again so he can eventually transition to his forever home.
Please find it in your hearts to donate, every amount, big or small, makes a difference.
